Dear Society,
As we all witness history slowly but surely repeat itself, I’ve become appreciative of my race’s trials and tribulations. More so, I am becoming more and more thankful for my ancestors. Their will, decisiveness, and grit created the backbone of what helps support my race today.
My ancestor’s absolute sacrifice is the sole reason my race is able to achieve more than they could have ever imagined. They unselfishly took on the burden, and lost life with the mindset of successful generations down the road. For this, and for many other reasons, my goal in life is to make them proud. I believe this should be a goal for all African Americans. We should take advantage of and be grateful for what we currently have. Our race must fully comprehend that our current day to day was not always present. Voting, marriage, education, or basic human rights were not normal. It may seem repetitive or we may know this already, but in the grand scheme of things, we tend to maintain a short memory.
From our food, style, and worship, I believe that African American culture is deeply in-tune with its ancestors. In my opinion, our people are the most harmonic with their ancestors compared to any other race due to their sacrifices. This natural connection between us and our ancestors is unbreakable.
Through knowledge and prayer, I am guided by my ancestors. I believe our race as a whole is. Similar to Jesus, our ancestors did not sacrifice as much as they did to leave us all alone. This spiritual wealth is something we all need to take into account and cherish.
