Luck Favors the Prepared Mind

Dear society,

We tend to talk about luck as if it’s random. Something that happens to us, not something we quietly work toward. We tend to say someone was in the right place at the right time, as if timing alone did the heavy lifting.

I’ve never really seen it that way.

I don’t view these times as luck. My view are blessings — moments that arrive with purpose, not coincidence. However, I still believe that even blessings often meet us at the intersection of preparation and timing.

More often than not, what we call luck finds those who have been in preperation phase for a while. This phase doesn’t always seem as attractive as the “luck” we see. Behind closed doors, you will find one choosing growth in uncomfortable seasons and staying committed when progress feels invisible.

A prepared mind does not have all the answers. It is curious, open, willing to keep going even without guarantees. This mind practices, reflects, and heals. Not for applause, but because it understands that readiness is built mostly in silence.

What we call luck or a blessing is often alignment. It’s the moment when opportunity meets one who has done the unpleasant work to step into the opportunity ahead with confidence and grace.

From the outside, these moments can look effortless. But truly, there are countless small decisions: risks, discipline, and constantly keeping belief alive when doubt can be louder than certainty.

Preparation doesn’t promise outcomes. Moreso, it doesn’t promise outcomes exactly as expected. But it does shape perspective.

So, as life may feel slow at times, remind yourself you are more than likely in a season of becoming.

Luck will come. Or perhaps, a blessing.
And when it does,
May you be ready to meet it.
