Dear Society,
With the spirit of love and history in the air, I now take the time to acknowledge my passionate love for my culture’s history.
While this history is typically shed in a dark and regretful flicker of light, I have grown to see my culture’s true history for what it is and have developed a healthy and thriving relationship with it. My love developed once I was able to access an open mind to view how Black history has built such a beautiful and strong silhouette for us while providing steps for our bright and fulfilling future.
My love for Black history has encouraged me to dig far beyond the “history” that society portrays. Specifically, what I’ve fallen for is my history’s strength, determination, resistance, beauty…
The love for one’s history is rare but when you have history with as much depth and color as Black history, the feeling of love is bound to overtake.
_____
I love your words “ What I’ve fallen for is my history’s strength, determination, resistance, beauty…”
